What kinds of products will I be asked to test? You could be asked to test just about anything – from convenience foods to sport drinks to cosmetics to cleaning supplies. Virtually any product that is sold to consumers could be tested.
How do I know if there’s a study?Once you are registered in Insight Counts’ confidential database, we will inform you by phone or by email when a study that you might be interested in is about to start. When it's convenient for you, just call our automated telephone system or log onto our Internet site and complete a short screening questionnaire to qualify to participate in the study.
If you qualify, you will be given additional information about the nature of the study, including the type of product, the duration of the test, and how much you will be compensated. You can agree to participate, or you can opt out.
How does the testing work?As an Insight Counts consumer panelist, you may be asked to participate in different types of product tests, including:
Home Testing – Some products are tested in your home as you would normally use them. We arrange to supply you with samples, and over a period of days or weeks you test them and complete occasional surveys.
Group Testing – Other products – some types of food, for example – need to be prepared so that everyone gets the same experience. In these cases we'll ask you to come to a central location in your community at a certain time. You are given the samples to try and a questionnaire to fill out. These types of tests typically take about an hour of your time at the testing site.
Focus Groups – When companies want more interaction with consumers and livelier feedback, they sometimes rely on focus groups. A focus group typically consists of around a dozen people and a facilitator who gather in a meeting room. The facilitator leads an open discussion about topics that are important to the company. As a focus group member, you may be asked to try a product or watch a video, or the facilitator might ask you for your insights about past service experiences or desired product characteristics.
How much does it pay?The amount of compensation depends on the study being done. Most product testing assignments pay between $20 and $100.
How will information about me be used?Since Insight Counts doesn’t want to bother you with studies that don’t match your interests, we ask you to provide some general information when you register. This information is absolutely confidential. It will only be used to determine which testing opportunities will benefit most from your consumer perspective, and which tests you are most likely to qualify for.
My club or organization has asked me to sign up for fund raising. How do I do that?Insight Counts works with a number of clubs and charitable organizations in the Nashville area to provide fund-raising opportunities. This is a great way for members to help their organizations earn money without bothering friends and associates with the usual fundraising activities – catalogue sales, coupon books, giftwrap, or other merchandise. Many clubs in the Nashville area have taken advantage of this fun new way to raise money – all with minimal effort from club members.
When you register with Insight Counts, you can choose from a list of Partner organizations. Any time you do a study, you can donate your compensation to one of your Partner organizations – or you can choose to keep the money for yourself. If you direct it to your organization, Insight Counts makes the contribution for you, and provides your organization with a record of the donation.
Organizations that have received donations from Insight Counts studies include school parent organizations, scout troops, church groups, the Steeple Players, the Humane Society, and the American Cancer Society. Some organizations have earned thousands of dollars a year through the participation of their members.
How can my club become an Insight Counts Fundraising Partner?Becoming a Partner is easy. After an officer in your organization contacts us to provide payment and tax information, we will add your group to our list of affiliates. Once your club is an affiliate, members can direct their study compensation to your club. We will also supply your group with promotional information that helps you educate your membership about this unique fund-raising opportunity. Further information and instructions can be found at the Enroll Your Organization page of this website.
